Biography

My name is Katarzyna Bolko, and I am a certified NYS Teacher Assistant qualified to work in special education. Currently, I work at a Public Primary School. In 2019, I joined the Polish Supplementary School of Long Island as a 1st-grade teacher’s assistant. Later, I took over as the teacher for third and fourth-grade students.

I completed a refresher course called “Teaching Polish as a Second Language,” organized by the Center for the Development of Polish Education Abroad Polonia Teacher Center. This course authorized me to conduct additional classes in Polish, which are also offered by our school, for foreign-language children.

I have also completed several courses organized by the Klanza Teaching Center, which were co-financed by the Ministry of National Education. These courses have supported and enriched my work with children in online and direct contact settings.

My classes focus on introducing students to the Polish language, as well as elements of the culture, geography and history of Poland. It brings me great joy and satisfaction to observe their progress and to share my passion with them. In conclusion, I would like to quote Mark Twain – “It is a noble thing to learn, but a nobler thing to teach.”
